The Cock and Swine

The town of Swinton in Manchester takes its name from an ancient pig farm where the town now stands, but it’s much more glamourous nowadays, with less pigs. Historically predominantly a rural area with many a pig farm hence the name swine-town/Swinton, keep up at the back.

Nowadays though Swinton is a bustling suburb of Greater Manchester, in-between Salford and Worsley nestles possibly the greatest little gem of a pub ever to be found: The Cock and Swine.

Wooden floors and mahogany panelling abound, malt whiskeys and local cask ale at its best, and the kitchen’s open every day for the finest in local produce cooked the way you’d like to remember your mother did….

The Swine is a real heart of its community, with a great atmosphere and lovely friendly locals: and very proud to be so.
